The Affordable Care Act set reporting requirements related to minimum essential coverage. Individuals no longer have to show proof of health coverage, but insurers and employers are still required to report to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) about the coverage they provide or offer.

• The IRS doesn’t require insurers to automatically mail 1095-B/C forms to members, so we don’t mail forms to members unless students request a copy.
• Those forms are available on Blue Access for Members (BAM). Members can also call the number on their ID card to request a physical copy or visit the web page - TaxInfoTX.com

Health Institution Students (Hard Waiver)
All Health Institutions and medical students are automatically enrolled in the Student Health Insurance Plan at registration unless proof of comparable coverage is furnished.

International Students (Mandatory)
All international students holding non-immigrant visas are required to purchase this Student Health Insurance Plan in order to complete registration, except for those students who provide proof of comparable coverage in writing.

All Other Students (Voluntary)

Voluntary Undergraduate Students
All fee paying undergraduate students at UT System taking at least seven (7) credit hours each semester, are eligible to enroll in SHIP.

Voluntary Graduate Students
All fee paying graduate students enrolled in at least four (4) credit hours each semester, are eligible to enroll in SHIP.

Voluntary Graduate Student Employee and SUPER Scholars are eligible to enroll in SHIP.

Other Voluntary Students
Students working on research, dissertation, or thesis, post doctorate, scholars, fellows, visiting scholars, ESL program students, Fast Track Degree Program students, students who are deemed full-time by the campus Disability Services department, or other groups with reduced coursework that meet the criteria for exemption as defined and approved by UT System are eligible to enroll in SHIP.

Summer Undergraduate Students taking four (4) credit hours are eligible to enroll in SHIP.

Summer Graduate Students taking two (2) credit hours are eligible to enroll in SHIP.

If you are enrolled in UT Select and moving to UT SHIP or vice versa and will experience a GAP in coverage at the beginning of the semester, you will enroll in this one month option to "bridge" that GAP. Do not enroll in this coverage if this does not apply to your situation. Click the button below to Enroll in UT Gap Coverage. Eligibility will be verified upon submission of an enrollment application.

Student's and/or Dependent's Dental premium is paid directly to AHP. All students and their eligible dependents (spouse and dependents from age 19 up to the age of 26) are eligible to enroll in the standalone dental plan. The student must enroll in order to add dependent coverage under the dental plan. Children under age of 19 may be enrolled in Optional Dental if they are not enrolled in UT Student Health Insurance Medical Plan. Pediatric Dental coverage up to the age of 19 is automatically included in the medical plan at no additional cost.
